Mark your calendar for Wednesday, Dec. 2nd from 5:30-7:00 PM. Empty Bowl Nite is an annual event at the junior high that is designed to unite our community and our school to raise money for less fortunate children and families in the Colorado Springs area. On EBN, the suggested donation of $10.00 per person entitles you to a ceramic bowl that was hand-crafted by CMJH students, a modest meal consisting of soup, bread, water, and a small dessert, and great entertainment; groups slated to perform are the CMJH Jazz Band, assorted CMJH vocal groups, and a CMHS vocal group. The soup style meal serves as a reminder of the many people in our area who struggle to put meals on their tables. Please plan on joining us for this fantastic event.
This year’s Winter Dance will be held from 6:30-8:30 PM on Friday, Dec. 4th in the CMJH Commons. While this is not a formal dance, most of our students take the opportunity to dress up more than usual; most of the girls wear dresses, and most of the boys wear slacks and a collared shirt (boys may not wear shorts or hats). For this dance, we do allow girls to wear dresses that are sleeveless and/or have “spaghetti” straps, but we do not allow strapless dresses. Additionally, the length of dresses remains the same as or normal dress code, so dresses must be to the middle of the knee or leggings must be worn with the dress. Leggings cannot be see-through in any fashion, and dresses where undergarments can be seen are also not allowed. Please check that your child’s outfit meets the dress code because we will not allow students to enter the dance if their attire violates the above rules. If there are any questions about what is allowable, please have your son or daughter check with Mr. Watkins or Mrs. Johnson.
Final exams will be given Dec. 14th-Dec. 17th. To see the schedule, please click on the "Hours and Schedules" link under the "Our School" tab.
