2016 Girls' Cross Country Information


Girls Cross Country practice will begin on Monday August 15th at 3:00.  The first practice will be a 30-minute informational meeting.  Please check the CMJH website, under the Athletics tab, for fee and paperwork registration deadlines (Registration for Fall sports is August 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10 from 8:00-3:00 each day in the CMJH front office). Trail runs and practices will start on Tuesday August 16 at 3:00.  Bring good running shoes, a watch or phone, and plenty of water.  These practices will last approximately an hour. For optimal performance and injury prevention all runners should be running a minimum of 10 miles a week throughout the summer.  The best way to enjoy the season is to come in fit from a summer of activity.  Help CMJH Cross Country continue its tradition of excellence by being a part of the team!

In an effort to build a harmonious running community that promotes a seamless transition from Junior High to High School, CMHS has offered to host daily runs where Junior High Students are welcomed and encouraged to join in.  These runs are prescribed by the high school coaching staff and can be tailored to meet the needs of Junior High runners.  These group runs are organized by CMHS captains throughout the summer and the HS students have offered to host any current 6th, 7th or 8th grade student who is interested in running cross country for CMJH to join them for summer training sessions. Get out and RUN!  It is encouraged for you to get out and run three times per/week with duration of 2-5 miles each workout.  This will help you get ready for practice and allow you to be pre-conditioned.


Cross Country is a TEAM sport that builds confidence, endurance, and success both on the field and in the classroom.  If you give 100% in practice and have a positive attitude, there is nothing you can’t accomplish.  We have a great group of runners that like to work hard and have fun.  I hope you like to run.  If you don’t, this is not the sport for you.  After six weeks in the program, you will be transformed into a trail running machine! 


PRACTICE:  Cross Country practice will begin on Monday, August 15th at 3:00pm.  The first practice will be a 30-minute informational meeting.  All athletes should turn in his registration paperwork and fee during the Fall Sports Registrations window (Thursday, August 4 through Wednesday, August 10, 8:00-2:00 in the CMJH front office).


Trail runs and practices will start on Tuesday, August 16th.  TWO coaches will supervise trail runs and athletes will follow designated routes during each practice.  Students must follow and stay with coaches and athletes during practice.


Practice will begin at 3pm and will end around 4:15pm at the Junior High. 

We will have practice every weekday (M-F), unless we have a meet.  We will run approximately 2-5 miles a day during practice.


YOU MUST have a current physical, registration packet, and fee into the front office no later than Wednesday, August 10 at 3:00pm before you can practice with the team.  YOU CANNOT practice with the team until all paperwork is in.  You need 5 practices completed before you are eligible for the first meet.
