Boys' Cross Country Coaching Staff

Cross Country Summer Camp & Conditioning

When:  August 5-9, 2019

Time:  8:30 - 10:00am

Where:  Cheyenne Mountain JH

Who:  Any athlete (boy & girls) entering grades 6-8 that currently attend Cheyenne Mountain School District

Cost:  $45 checks made payable to Cheyenne Mountain JH

General Information on XC Camp - Athletes will be coached by current cross country coaches at Cheyenne Mountain JH.  Coaches will focus on a variety of topics including proper warm-up and cool down techniques, proper running form, training for distance running methods, injury prevention, sports nutrition, and pre-conditioning and training.  These areas will be focused to get athletes ready for the upcoming cross country season.  This camp is NOT mandatory but highly recommended for all upcoming boys and girls cross country team members.  To register and for more information, download and complete the following flyer:  XC Summer Camp Flyer

Fee:  $43.00 (check made out to CMJH)

Fall Season Official Start (Registration not accepted) - Monday, August 12, 2019

Cross Country is a TEAM sport that builds confidence, endurance, and success both on the field and in the classroom.  If you give 100% in practice and have a positive attitude, there is nothing you can’t accomplish.  We have a great group of runners that like to work hard and have fun.  I hope you like to run.  If you don’t, this is not the sport for you.  After six weeks in the program, you will be transformed into a trail running machine! 

PRACTICE:  Cross Country practice will begin on Monday, August 13th at 3:00pm.  The first practice will be a 30-minute informational meeting.  All athletes should turn in his registration paperwork and fee during the Fall Sports Registrations window (Wednesday, July 31 through Tuesday, August 6, 7:15-3:30 in the CMJH front office).

Trail runs and practices will start on Tuesday, August 13th.  At least FOUR coaches will supervise trail runs and athletes will follow designated routes during each practice.  Students must follow and stay with coaches and athletes during practice.

Practice will begin at 3pm and will end around 4:15pm at the Junior High. 

We will have practice every weekday (M-F), unless we have a meet.  We will run approximately 2-5 miles a day during practice.

YOU MUST have a current physical, registration packet, and fee into the front office no later than Friday, August 9th at 3:00pm before you can practice with the team.  YOU CANNOT practice with the team until all paperwork is in.  You need 5 practices completed before you are eligible for the first meet.
