Good afternoon, Cheyenne Mountain Staff and Families. Below you will find a message we received this afternoon from the Colorado Springs Utilities that we wanted to pass along to you. We are nearing completion of a large scale natural gas improvement project on Cheyenne Blvd. Many feet of aging gas main were installed this summer to prevent road closures during the school year. In addition, over 70 residential services will soon be installed along Cheyenne Blvd. after the school year start. Our crews are aware that school orientations are taking place tomorrow and Friday August 16th. Extra duty CSPD officers will be patrolling areas around all Cheyenne Mountain D12 schools to ensure the safety of everyone traveling in this corridor. The City of Colorado Springs continues their curb, gutter and paving work with more information here: https://coloradosprings.gov/cheyennestudy. National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony: What a beautiful celebration by our 8th grade class to welcome and induct seventh graders into the organization. I'm so proud of our eighth graders for their hard work in making this a special evening. Five our our eighth graders were celebrated for their accomplishments in one of the following areas: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship. Congratulations to all!
It doesn't get more special than our yearly District-wide Art Show - student works across the grades and mediums... Absolutely incredible!!!

Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team for placing 5th overall at the regional competition on Saturday, March 2 . Our individual standings were:

Fast Facts - 1st place
Write It/Do It - 2nd place
They have qualified for the state competition which will be held on Saturday, April 6 at UCCS.
Wonderful performances by our elementary, junior high, and high school show choirs this evening - Bravo!
